PS: C1.7 apply effective problem-solving and decision-making skills to make safe and healthy choices

 

Learning Objective(s):

  1. Students will identify ways to keep their minds healthy

  2. Students will identify ways to keep their bodies healthy

 

Materials: self-care charts

 

Procedure:

  1. Ask students what they think self-care means and give definition

  2. Group discussion about why self-care is important and give examples

  3. Complete self-care charts together by section

  4. Students can share if time allows

  5. Practice 2-3 yoga poses and explain how yoga is an example of self-care

  6. Review why self-care is important

 

Plan for Evaluation:

  • Process Data: 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes

  • Perception Data: Students will be able to give at least 4 examples of how to take care of their minds and at least 4 examples of how to take care of their bodies.

  • Outcome Data: Students will make healthier choices

  • Follow Up: For students who continue to make unhealthy choices, individual follow-ups will be made.
